We discover how much the moon still influences life on earth. Farmer Julian Ellis plans his farming according to the phases of the moon. And we discover how much the moon's immense influence on the tides also governs fisherman Sam Jones' daily life. Dara next travels to the coasts of Kent to meet astrobiologist Professor Lewis Dartnell to find out just how far the moon's influence on life on earth extends. Lewis explains how important the moon's pull on the Earth's tides has been to evolution for the animals that live in coastal areas but also on human evolution. But does the moon still affect life on earth and directly affect people, as many believe? Dara meets Dr. Rohin Francis to dig deeper into the myths surrounding the moon's influence on human behavior, and to discuss some of the latest evidence. But regardless of the myths and legends – the one way the moon undoubtably shaped our history was the race to put a human on the moon. Dara meets Dr Katie Joy who studies moon rocks brought back from the Apollo missions to find out what they discovered from them and are still discovering. Katie explains there is a new race to the moon because, incredibly, locked up in rocks across the lunar surface is believed to be vast amounts of water.

When the platypus was discovered in colonial Australia, its bizarrely composite anatomy seemed a gross hoax. It took generations of research to classify it, given that even its reproductive system combines elements of mammals, birds and marsupials. Unlike most amphibians, the midwife-toad has its eggs worn on the male's legs, and they copulate on land, not in water, for which purpose male toads have 'adhesive' paw pads. A brilliant zoologist discovered that breeding them in different conditions can trigger a reversal to the other method and anatomy, a Lamareck-like amendment on Darwinism, which was abused for political purposes. He committed suicide after probably false accusations of fabricating evidence, as the results, although never reproduced in labs, were later found in the wild.

Near Glasgow, John and Antoinette run a mixed livestock farm, but John badly needs a hip replacement and is struggling with the workload. Youngest son Ben wants to help but the farm can't afford to pay him full-time. Their six kids have come up with a plan to boost the farm's income by setting up an events business. In Caithness, single mum Sally Crowe runs a croft with help from her 79-year-old dad Iain. It's one of the biggest days of the year as they find out how many lambs to expect in spring, on a small farm where every penny counts.
