In January 2017, a team of researchers set out on one of the last major geographic expeditions to Madre de Dios Island — a true terra incognita in the heart of Patagonia and Chilean Antarctica. To carry out this risky mission, speleologists, divers, geologists, botanists, and biologists faced extreme conditions while exploring this remote land, aiming to establish it as a UNESCO World Heritage site.
